Proof of Concept City of Kriens

Kriens: a digital hotspot thanks to forward-thinking urban planning

Livesystems is equipping the city of Kriens with a total of 10 DOOH screens at various central locations. Livesystems has successfully won the concession by beating the competition and has been commissioned by the city of Kriens to market and operate the digital advertising locations. With around 30,000 residents, Kriens is the second-largest city in Central Switzerland and is growing continuously.

Over the years, Kriens has developed from a traditional industrial and working-class community into a modern business and service location. This is also thanks to a strong focus on digitisation, intelligent urban planning and sustainable concepts to remain attractive for residents and businesses in the long term.

Livesystems relies on a mix of proven formats and innovations. The restrained, simple design of the digital screens fits perfectly into the cityscape. This offers residents a decisive added value and supports the rapid development of the city of Kriens. While 8 advertising screens are used commercially, two digital screens provide important information from the city of Kriens on current topics. This benefits all target groups: the city of Kriens has an innovative, contemporary communication channel that offers significant added value in its interaction with the population. Posts can be projected onto the screens in no time at all, enabling the city to respond to events at short notice. In addition, residents are provided with up-to-date information at all times.

With the city screens, we have the opportunity to address residents and guests of Kriens directly on site and provide them with information on traffic, culture and other important information from the city administration. The development and establishment of this additional channel together with Livesystems is running efficiently and on an equal footing. Personally, I like how the people in charge at Livesystems apply new digital possibilities with attention to maintain a good cityscape.

Long-term urban development pays off

With the Pilatus on its doorstep, a wide range of cultural activities and access to the A2 motorway, Kriens has developed into an important traffic hub with a high frequency of visitors. By working with Livesystems, Kriens is focusing on a sustainable recycling policy. This, because the resources of the marketed screens flow back into the town of Kriens. Part of the advertising revenue generated is paid back to the town and can be used for further innovative urban projects.

The DOOH screens will be fully installed in 2026 in accordance with the licence agreement.

High audience numbers attract advertisers

The cooperation between Livesystems and the city of Kriens not only means growth for the company , but also a clear advantage for advertising customers. They can use the high-quality DOOH spaces in their region for their advertising campaigns and optimally address their local target group. A DOOH advertising campaign generates a net reach of 150,000 with over 1.6 million gross contacts(1). In total, the comprehensive advertising network of Livesystems measures over 13,000 DOOH screens and achieves a reach of 92% throughout Switzerland(2).

For us, the town of Kriens is an important partnership in a rapidly growing urban area and a prime example of a successful cooperation with shared goals. We can expand our coverage in Central Switzerland and at the same time provide the town of Kriens with a tool for communicating with its population.
