Audience data was collected—as with the rest of our inventory—by the research firm Intervista. Measurement of interior and exterior formats is currently being rolled out gradually. For now, only raw impressions are available.

In-Vehicle Formats

Similar to the measurement of screen contacts within vehicles, public transportation trips are also recorded to measure contacts with analog advertising inside vehicles, such as hanging signs or window decals. The following rule applies: during a trip, there can be only one contact per person with an advertising medium, regardless of how long that person remains in the vehicle.

Since not all passengers can see every advertising medium inside the vehicle, a visibility reduction factor is applied. For buses, this factor is 50% per advertising medium per trip; for trams, it is 75%.

Outdoor Media

The likelihood of exposure to outdoor advertising was measured as an example as part of a pilot project, using a sample of 22 vehicles. To this end, beacons were installed on BERNMOBIL trams and buses. These beacons continuously transmit a Bluetooth signal that can be detected by participants in the intervista mobility panel. This made it possible to measure the time spent in the immediate vicinity of the vehicles.

The measurement period ran from March 23 to June 14, 2026. The results were extrapolated to the Swiss resident population aged 15 to 79. Average values per vehicle were thus calculated. These data do not contain any information on the visibility of the advertising surfaces.
